How Do We Let Go |

We shared so many dreams, cried so many tears built our lives together, through all these years. We srtuggled through the bad times. Laughed through the good. Worked and played beside each other, like any couple would. Shared tears of sadness in our sorrow, holding each other tight. Whisphered love words, deep in the night. We built a house of wood and stone, filled the rooms with laughter, made this house a home. We raised a family together, did the best we could. Provided love and protection, like any parents should. Now the years have come and gone, sadly love has slipped away, from our happy home. Tears in the eyes that once were happy. Frowns where smiles use to be, Tell me please... where are the people we use to be? Questions now, where answers use to be. Did I loose you? Or did you leave me? I've gone back through all the years, years of laughter, tears, and joy. Found a question I must ask, the answer I really need to know... How do we let go? |

Is the question really, how do we let go, or, how do we find where are the people we used to be. Sounds like many years of love and laughter being let go. Sometimes the batteries just need to be recharged after they've been sitting, unused for a long time, doesn't mean they're dead. Nice poem and welcome. |

Betty - You let go slowly at your own pace. It's not easy by any means. Be sure to keep the good memories that you have ... you will want to revisit them later. Write me. If you need a friend ... you've got one. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Betty, this poem touched me deeply, 3 years ago I was divorced (not my choice) after 20 years of marriage...and while it was very hard at first, lots of animosity and pain, rigfht now we are very close...he wants to work on getting back together but in 5 years of dependence I have grown and changed so much I don't think I do...YET I can't seem to let go, we spend lots of time together and I miss him whenhe isn't here...letting go is difficult but I think necessary if we are to really move on to new whole lives. I am a friend with an understanding ear if you need one. |

Wow...I think I need to share this with my mother - this is a powerful piece. She is struggling with the same thing right now....Thank you for sharing. ------------------ - - - If I can just touch you once, then I feel I have accomplished what I am called to do.... Betty, this is a wonderful poem. Divorce is never easy and it's sad when someone you've chosen to live your life with, seems to be growing into someone you never knew. Thanks for posting this! |

To... lostboy, Marge Tindal, Beki, poetFemmeFatale and Poet deVine. Thank you. It is nice to know there is always someone there. I'm sorry about the slow return, but I do work very odd hours. However I do read all the replies that I receive, and appreciate them all. Forgive me for being slow. "If I can touch, but one life while walking here, then I have lived... Not just passed this way." |
