My search for love

I searched the world and touched each crop
From valleys low, to mountain top.
Flew as far as the albatross.
And never did I shed this cross.

I searched the wind, the sun, the moon,
In the morning the day and the afternoon.
I searched the night in candle light.
And lit each corner with its light.

I searched the edges of myself.
As only one can search oneself.
I dug into the darkest corner,
Searched it like a lonely mourner.

But the song of love would not be heard.
Nor could I find that invisible bird.
And sadness filled a cavity,
I thought that love would never be.

And then one dark I prayed the night
And swore to God, I'd do it right.
If he would only give me sight,
To see that invisible and unbound light.

And he touched my eyes to see my life
And I woke up, to the face of my wife.

Sy This is beautiful! And so real to many of us.
This is one of my favorites
Seems I have a lot of those!

Seymour - That is a truly lovely tribute to your wife. How very, very sweet.
It just flows with love.

I love it, Seymour! Sometimes what we spend the longest time looking fo is something we have right there in front of us. Beautiful job, glad you found what you wanted!

I thought it not very long,
indeed, likened it to song,
for love should be thus repleat
I'll take the words that are so sweet.

Elizabeth,
Your answer did tickle me,
I'll write a hyde just wait and see.
WhtDove,
It is not a long poem, she just isn't into poetry. Thanks for the nice words.
Sunshine,
I agree, your words are as sweet as can be. *L*

This is lovely, Sy! This sings, really.
I know how it feels when the one you love doesn't appreciate your art.   I don't know about you but, it matters to me!!!!

I am adding my beautiful to all the rest Seymour.

In your words a vision told
that only poetry can hold
to one this lovely is obtuse
to me touched by that revered muse.
