Charades

Just the other day I happened
to open my mouth
and even I couldn't believe
the words that came out.
It was an independent thought
with no reason or rhyme
a feeble attempt to verbalize
a humorous line.
Fortunately, this time, for a change
the damage was minimal
yet nevertheless I was left
feeling no less criminal.
Since then I've nary a word spoken-
just a nod or shake of my head
from fear that hurt or harm
will result from something I've said.
So now that I've decided
to shun lengthy word parades
I spend my spare time learning
a new game called "Charades"!

This is great, I've many times when both feet find my mouth and I wish I could learn the trick of becoming invisible.

You're an honest man, Robert. There's nothing
wrong with voicing an honest opinion in a
poem. Just don't be b r u t a l l y honest.
Truth and love are both needed to create
mutual understanding.

Thanks Willem. I am not sure I know how to be brutally honest. It goes against everything I was taught. Sometimes I have found myself almost lying not to hurt someone. I did try to be brutal in the news groups and it didn't really help me or those that I was brutal with.

I am really glad you are here Willem. I have been admiring your comments in other groups. I appreciate logic and honesty. You posess both and much more I hope we all can discover.
