Black and blue
is that you?
Do the words
I'm doing it because I love you?

Remind you?
They do me
Being ashamed because you were beaten
in the name of love

I hate my memories
the way I only understand
hurt me and I'll forgive you
it's all I know...

Sorry!

Very sad memories. No one should have to suffer this way. Excellent poem, Rainbow. HUGS

Sad thoughts sweetie...some memories are better left in the past. Hopefully we learn from experience, and not let the same thing happen again. It's easy to criticize those that are abused and come back for more or don't do something about it. But like the old saying goes; "Till ya been there...till ya know what it's like, ya can't be an authority."

Sad piece Rainbow. My aunt was abused for nearly 20 something years by the man she was married to, but never left him. I know the memories and scars will always be there. It's a hard subject to deal with.

Thank you all my friends...needless to say, I'm ashamed of this...it just came from my past, I had wanted to delete it or pretend I hadn't said it but was too late and someone had replied...but, on reflection, maybe it was best, better out than in, as they say...

Bless you all for being so very understanding!

HUGS

You certainly cannot delete the memories, and I'm so glad you didn't delete the verse.
Thank you for sharing it

Queen

These words (I think) affect me, as a man, differently than they may affect the women in this forum. It seems to me that women can be very supportive and understanding, and feel for you. As a man, I'm more inclined to look for solutions, and so this poem frustrates me because I want to change your past and can do nothing but feel anger at the person who did this to you, and anger at myself for being powerless to make things better. It was a wonderful poem in that respect. It reached something inside me, and made me feel.

Elizabeth: bless you...No I can't delete the memories but I can try to make better ones and that I will always try..

LJA: Oh sweetheart...I didn't want to make you or anyone else feel bad...remember how we used to talk and you would tell me of your daughter? Being able to share provides comfort of a kind...trust is the most valuable feeling in the world and you have my trust...I know if you could, you would *all* wave your magic wand and give me the life of a Queen (hmmm, brings to mind corgis or tarts) but maybe, just maybe, my life has made me a much better person than I would have been...I'm happy with me, the way I think and the way I love and care for others..

Bless you
