Remembering

When the boys
are grown and gone
I will leave
the basketball goal
along with
the tetherball pole
standing in the backyard
as a memorial
to their childhood
because I think
it is less cruel
to remember
than to pretend
it never happened.

Robert

Remembering is what brings wisdom to the small and hurried minute. I loved your poem.

You say so much in so little space. It captivates me.
