Have you ever noticed time’s kind veil- Softens hindsight’s view. Like grass does cover a new grave And hide cold Death from you? And so it is with failed romance- And hearts which cry for ease.... Given time the wounds will close And make one seek release.. From loneliness and boredom... From harsh reality- And seek a soul mate once again Mis’ry loves company. Alas, while time may heal the pain I fear it only serves- To mold more firmly what we are And strengthen our reserves. As water seeks it’s level We likewise seek our own... And always try to find new loves Like old ones we have known. Ah, foolish people, aren’t we all? To think that we can learn, And make aright inherent wrongs. At each and every turn? Ah, lovelorn one, wilt thou but hear? And then be truly free? Then set your sights on different goals- or disappointed be. ------------------ Live large, people! ~GS~ http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html [This message has been edited by Gunslinger (edited 11-30-1999).] |

I love your cowboy poetry and the scenes you paint, but even more I love your poems that come from life's lessons, hard learned. Well done Gunslinger! |
