You shot an arrow in the air
It came to earth you know not where-
Your arrow pierced just like a dart..
I fear it lodged deep in my heart.
“What do you mean”? is your reply
Your puzzlement is in your eye.
“Ah, lass, your smile did do the trick-
Me very soul that smile did prick.
I heard the birds like angels sing-
The very heavens gave a ring...
The stars did dance and laugh in glee
The day you fired that smile at me.
“It’s but a smile”, you slowly say.
I bow, then murmur, “O, but nay-
‘Tis more than just a smile, colleen-
A brighter light I’ve never seen”.
It promised heaven, gave me hell-
For with that shining smile I fell.
Head over heels in love with thee..
Alas, I know you don’t love me.
Xanadu with tow’rs and spires
The Kohinoor with inner fires...
The sun which gives our world it’s light
Could never, ever shine so bright.
Ah, lass, I try.. to no avail
The words I seek, do ever fail-
You drove me mad, yes, drove me wild
The day I saw your lovely smile.
