The play-ground oddly quiet on this day, the laughter of the children seems subdued. Just what the difference is, it's hard to say, as if there were no words to fit this mood. The swings in graceful arc reach for the sky. Sand castles being built await their queens. All is in readiness, oh me, oh my! What ever could this all possibly mean? The carosel, abandoned, spins no more, 'til with this months' assignment, here comes Marge, and then, things are just like they were before, she went and left this old dumb moose in charge! I laugh and give the "go-round" a big push. Poor Marge flies off and lands right... (next to "Teach", who promptly sends me to the principles office!) |

Seems sonnets simply are not Marge's thing She doesn't want to have to count da-DUM's She'd rather play outside upon the swings Or sit in class and chomp on bubble gum She thinks that recess should be all day long So she and Titia jump rope Double Dutch I saw them playing hopscotch singing songs One thing's for sure - They are not writing much What can we do to get them back to class So they can share their wit and poetry Perhaps we could rescind their school hall pass Or drag them in to stop their truancy Well I've a word or two for them you bet Get out your pens and write a good sonnet!! |
