Sorry I haven't been around the last week or so! Lots going on this time of year as we try to prepare ourselves for the coming winter. I did take the time to listen to the wind in the trees yesterday and this is what resulted. Keep in mind that I'm new to free verse and am testing out my wings here...Thanks.

WIND SONG
___________________________________________________
The chill wind howls
Across open fields
Through treetops
Caressing me with icy breath
Filling my ears with song
Calling me
Daring me to listen
Daring me to hear its plaintive cry
Speaking to my heart
Echoing through my soul
Making it pound to the rhythm of life
I hear voices in the trees
The cry of birds
The rustling of leaves
I listen..
And hear the wind in my soul
Which, like the breeze through the trees
Blows across the fields of my heart
Sending up a voice...
Have you ever heard the questions in the wind?
Had them answered by beating rhythms of the heart?
By the whispers of the soul?
Have you ever listened...
To the Wind Song?

Very beautiful, Tammy... Isn't Autumn beautiful?
It just lends itself to poetry like no other season...
Thanks for sharing

Very good description of the wind and the trees and all. For a "newbie" I'd have to say you have done very well.

Thanks,
Pete

Newbie indeed - I see some wonderful examples of imagery - metaphor - simile - personification... You've used them all beautifully.  I'm so happy to have you here in the workshop.  You're a great addition to our group...

I really enjoyed your version of a wonderful theme... the song of the wind...

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments!! I may be a "newbie" to the forum, but I've been writing since I was old enough to hold a pen! Most of my poetry is in rhyme however, so I am trying to broaden my horizons with free-verse. Thanks again for all your comments. I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for October!!
Peace,love,light and poetry!!
Tammy
