Of Human Kindness A simple respect The smallest human kindness Heals wounded spirits Soothes underlying fears Eases feelings of inadequacy. The cruelest words can be “Cheer up, it’s not so bad.” To deny someone their feelings Robs their life experience Of it’s meaning, Stunting emotional growth. Harsh judgments destroy relationships. It helps to understand. If understanding fails, At least do not condemn What you cannot understand. Why would you tell someone else What to feel? Our thoughts and feelings Are what make us unique No one else can think our thoughts Or feel our feelings. Sometimes they can relate Or share a similar experience But our experience of life is our own. Life is to be respected, Not insulted or ridiculed. Sometimes the silent “being with” Is the most eloquent expression Of love and respect. Shenachie 26 August 2002 |

Shenachie, Wow... Have I ever learned the truth of this powerful poem. Great write. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

There is so very much truth in this one, Bridget... No one can ever know what someone else is feeling inside... And you wrote this so beautifully too. ~ poetic hugs Lyra |

Bridget... This is one of those poems that really can open up ones eyes. I read it 3 or 4 times to try and grasp it's message. Just being together and sharing the silence of a fallen tear can mean more than all the words of supposed wisdom offered by friends with good intentions. Very Good Poem... We can all learn from this piece, Bridget... You've said it beautifully. We get back from life just what we put into it, don't we? Nicely said, m'friend... I love your philosophy.. |
