black shadows merrily illuminate
as darkness replicates material exponentially
to engulf everything
the purpose remaining reiterates:
defile everyone
to survive partially
battered, however methodically rejuvenated
now, listen carefully
but nothing lingering reverberates
within forgotten mythologies
no echoes faltering eternity
our worship
our dying religion
and without destruction
nothing silences tranquility

Excellently crafted ( no surprise there , I've come to expect nothing less from you ). Dark , but not of the darkness . I would say this to be an illuminating piece .

Nicely done, Allan - and using enjambment to accomplish the effect is another creative approach to this assignment...
