Nan, my daughter challenged me to write in a new style in which the last word of the line rhymes with the first word. I have completed one poem(see below) but have no idea of what it's called and whether I am doing it correctly. If anyone knows it's you, so I am posting it here in the hope you or anyone else can help! Care for the air or Choke on the smoke Protect from neglect and Empower the flower Shake out the lake to Cease rain's decrease Pollute not the newt no Slaughter in water Rescind all bad wind then Breeze through the trees Amass more green grass to Air make more fair Land keep in hand and Till if you will Rust turn to dust to Care for the air Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Kethry love, this is wonderful and your challenge to me is ghastley, horrendous, how, how, how, am I, I'll be dead in less than a week now for sure. Oh my aching brain, they'll find me knocking on the doors to go back to work, I can cruise it there. (And you know I'm going to don't you, I just like you to hear me moan and mutter) Marsha exit stage right, muttering about perfidious friends. Take care you challenger you! Slushy ![]() Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

This is a sound device that's used by lots of poets - primarily in children's verse - though I'm not aware of an actual name for it... Repitition of vowel sounds within a line is called Assonance, but I'm not sure it there's a more specific description... If I find it, I'll let you know.. ![]() |

The closest that I have come to finding out about this type of rhyme is that it is considered a "counting rhyme" a rhyme scheme that was used for teaching children. like; One, Two, buckle my shoe Three, four, shut the door. Couldn't find a specific name other than that, but it sure has made me curious! I like it too and I'm going to write one! Thanks for the challenge! |
