Our own wonderful Balladeer is much too humble... .. Mike's a great ballad writer and is aptly named, of course - He's directed us to these works, but he didn't link them - So I'll do it for him... .. They're written beautifully in iambic heptameter... Check these out for their formats, folks... Small Pain in My Chest Night Travelers The Cycle Notice that Balladeer's rhyme scheme is consistently a-a-b-b-... He's allowed to break the a-b-c-b rule, though - cuz he's the Balladeer!!!.. [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 07-23-2000).] |

LOL OK Nan you win....hehe. If I change it like this, would that make it a ballad(s) according the "Balladeer" rules ? The Ballad of Ceres Upon a day, a while ago, a sweet Ceres was born A man named Ron created her. He called her his "firstborn" Computer Techno Poetry became their passion one To sleep they hardly ever go, not 'til all jobs are done At first she had some growing pains with master CD-Ron But quickly learned how to back-up and problems soon were gone A cold, it doesn't bother her, Ceres is virus proof Whatever virus does approach she finds them all a spoof She doesn't fish for compliments, she rather has a worm A good wild race with "Trojan horse", she loves to make them squirm From time to time she bytes a bit, but that's just puberty She wants to lose her heart disk drive, feel software ecstasy To surf the world of cyberspace, the world she most admires Linked to computers lost in space, a Giga great desire To surf where none have surfed before, seek for the hackers nest And bug them in their secret home would give her mem'ry rest But when time comes to do the job, she's like a sorceress She's always there where she belongs, she's just a sweet Ceres The Ballad of Ceres (Sequel) or Why Ceres Is Slow Upon a day, not long ago, Ceres got lost in space While surfing cyber inter waves, she found the hackers base Confused by such tremendous luck she stumbeled over bugs A secret booby trap detour which almost pulled her plug But fortunate a Giga hunk appeared among their mid Came to the rescue of Ceres and Cupid's arrow hit Ceres has lost her heart disk drive which makes her rather slow Her memory is lost in space she feels an afterglow She wiggles with her floppy disk, discovers crazy bytes Gets drunk on Passions Poetry and comes home late at night Now master Ron does all he can to keep her server-bound He promised her more memory, but she replied spellbound "To surf where none have surfed before, be Giga loved one time And share my deepest heart disk drive with every bit that's mine" "No Master I won't be a slave of cyber lovers fear I rather hurt my precious bits than lose my Giga dear" So poets of the internet it's something we must face There's not much we can do but wait it's "love in cyberspace" MWAHAHAHA, think I'm going to spend some time in the "Stute now. these ballads are driving me quite insane ! |

Thank you, dear Nan, for your nice comments but I live in the city. I can't write suberb ballads! |
