Please don't judge me by my face,
By my religion or my race.

Please don't laugh at what I wear,
Or how I look or do my hair.

Please look a little deeper-
Way down deep inside,
And although you may not see it,
I have a lot to hide.

Behind my clothes, the secrets lie,
Behind my smile, I softly cry.

Please look a little deeper,
And maybe you will see
The lonely little girl
That lives inside of me.

Please listen carefully to her-
She'll show that she's insecure.

Please try to be a friend to her
And show her that you care.

Please just get to know her
And maybe you will see:

That if you just look deep enough,
You'll find the real me.

So true. If you look unbiased at anyone and try to see beyond their expression, or beyond there shell, you will see beauty in each and every person, including yourself I'm sure.

This is a beautiful poem that I think everybody can relate too. I really liked this, especially the ending. Keep up the great poetry

You are soooo right!!! If people could see the REAL me they would find a lot. they would find a loving caring but also very hurt person. But we live in a cynical society and therefore have cynical out looks on eachother, which isn't fair and shouldn't exist, but it does and we just have to hold our heads up with the support of those who don't take the time to criticize every little thing we do...and those people are our TRUE friends!! It was very good and the people who look deeper are the ones who really care for you. Trust can develop only if we open our hearts and share our thoughts or atleast we should try to show what's the hurt we're in and someone will surely sooth that. Only if we try.

Whenever I tell this to people, they think I'm 'weird', so I keep going on and on and on.
Excellent poem! This is how I feel very single day of my life, especially in my form room...when superficial talk is at it's peak and I feel like throwing up.
I completely agree with Star Pryncess.
