Set Me Free

The world keeps on spinning,
Why can't I make time freeze?
I'm so caught up in emotions,
Sometimes I forget to breathe.

Dreams of being perfect
Run wildly through my head.
But when will I be good enough?
I won't ever be ahead.

These questions are sitting in my mind,
What's the secret to life?
It's answer lies inside my heart,
Why can't I take my own advice?

The wounds of fear are on my wrist,
The world put these chains on me,
It locked me up inside these walls,
But I threw away the key.

Someday my wings will be strong enough
And strength will be shown to me
Until then I pray every night,
That He will set me free.

The world can be a confusing place, Karen, especally these days. You just have to stay strong, and you can get through. Great writing.

There's not a secret to life, only a meaning, and that meaning is different for each person.  The challenge and adventure in this world is making that discovery of what life means to each of us and how we can make a difference in a world where our relationships to each other are the only lasting treasures.  It's the journey that matters!

Thanks guys.  Everyone has bad days, but it is what we do to make the next day good that shapes our lives.

Great poem! This is cheesy, I know, but I feel it needs to be said. *ahem...*

Sometimes in our lives,
We all have pain,
We all have sorrow,
But, if we are wise
We know that there's
Always tomorrow!

Lean on me! When you're not strong,
and I'll be your friend.
I'll help you carry on,
'Cause, it won't be long
'Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on.

"In fact," said Mustapha Mond, "you're claiming the right to be unhappy."
"Alright then," said the Savage defiantly, "I'm claiming the right to be unhappy." -Aldous Huxley "Brave New World"

"The sun'll come out tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
There'll be sun..
Just thinking about tomorrow
Blows away the cobwebs and the sorrow
Till there's none.
If you're stuck with a day that's grey and lonely
Just stick up your chin and grin and say
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow...
You're only a day away."
I really like your poem, I think we all feel that way at some time or another.
