a broken heart beats wildly
beneath my aching chest.
its wings tread violently against the winds
of my soul, which cannot rest.

flood rains pour within my mind;
beating like a drum.
emotions mingle with the drops;
as constant as a hum.

my head hangs low in mourning
for the wine i cannot sip.
hallucinations come to life
when i still taste you on my lips.

i think about your every curve;
a place to rest a kiss;
where i can lay my head to dream
as i sleep in heavenly bliss.

so slowly i close my eyes
in an attempt to change the pace,
only to make my blood rush faster,
as i visualize your face.

into your eyes i have fallen
deep into the blue.
yet in my eyes, you've taken flight,
and to my head you flew.

i want to run my fingers
down your cheek and under your chin,
lift your face into my view
and kiss you once again,

take you softly into my arms
and whisper in your ear:
cry no more my sweet princess,
your valiant prince is here.

now i mst awaken
from a dream i'll never leave.
though my eyes may seem to open,
in my heart i'm still asleep.

still clinging onto fanasies
of your gentle, gorgeous smile.
embracing you so tenderly,
forever in a while.

Son of Man-

I can easily relate to this feeling... these feelings, and you've done a marvelous job of discribing them. I know what you've written about here. I've just been let down hard, and somehow I can't bring myself to believe it. I keep telling myself, "Today's the day... they'll be back today. Today they'll ring my doorbell, and when I answer it they'll throw their arms around me, tell me how wrong they were and how I'll always be the one for them..." Then when that day passes, with me looking out the window a few too many times, and sighing when they're nowhere in sight I tell myself "Today was just a bad day... they were busy... But I know they're thinking of me. They have to be thinking of me... They'll be by tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the day." And day after day passes... I'm sure altogether too many people know this feeling... Thanks for sharing this poem... You've conjured up a work to make your readers feel. I'm impressed.

Great poem!  When I read this it seemed as though my own feelings of a past experience were being expressed. Have you ever heard the song HOPE by the Descendents?  It is the same type of situation, it is a very good song.

wow!
this is great...expresses what i am feeling right now
it very beautiful and belive it or not it made me cry...love is a bizarre thing...it is something of no substance, to be never physically seen but it still seems to be the most powerful force in the world.

beautiful piece

Bec

 i never thought i'd die alone, i laughed the loudest who'd have known?
i traced the cord back to the wall, no wonder it was never plugged in at all
i took my time, i hurried up
the choice was mine i didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on, you'll be sorry when i'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when i still felt alive, we couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over i'd survived
I couldn't wait till i got home, to pass the time in my room alone
I never thought i'd die alone, another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to my friends, you'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time i spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall, please tell mum this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came
But tomorrow holds such better days
Days when i can still feel alive, when i can't wait to get outside
The world was wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, i've survived
I can't wait till i get home, to pass the time in my room alone
