My best friend, Marshall, celebrated his 16th birthday Thursday. He means the world to me, and I knew I wanted to give him something more than just an ordinary gift. Instead, I wrote him a poem that came from my heart. I'd like to share it with you now. Any comments are welcome! Thanks =)

To my best friend --
Wow, what can I say?
You're there for me always
Every night and each day.
Without you, my life
would be so hard to face;
you lighten each moment
and brighten each place.
When I think of the times
That we must spend apart,
It makes things less fun
and it saddens my heart.
But when we're together,
there's no limit on fun.
It's always an adventure
when each new day has begun!
The time seems unending
yet in the blink of an eye
I look back on our days
and feel they've flown by.
But no matter how quickly
our precious time is through,
I know you'll always have me
and I'll always have you.
Best friends forever,
since right from the start;
'till the day that I die,
you'll be kept warm in my heart.
You've changed my life,
I'll never be the same.
Since that cool autumn day
into my life you came.
Things happen for a reason,
and I know this much is true
we were destined to be friends
you needed me, and I, you.
With a friend who is so loving
so generous and so kind,
I know I must be lucky:
for those are rare and hard to find!
But wherever you go,
no matter how far,
I will always know
that you're near in my heart.
Though we've had our times,
our troubles and sorrows
I wouldn't change a single thing,
not yesterdays or tomorrows!
But no matter what happens
to you or to me,
You must know that I love you,
and best friends, we'll always be.
So you must never think
that our friendship can sever
and don't ever forget
we'll be BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!

This is really lovely, I enjoyed it thoroughly

Thank you for sharing this birthday gift with us, it is a very special gift to give to a very special friend. The love and friendship really glow in this poem. Great job!! I hope Marshall had a terrific birthday, he sounds like a terrific person!!!!

This was a really good present to give to someone. I hope that enjoyed it as it was a beautiful piece to demonstrate the way you feel about someone.

I liked this poem very much, it is the best gift for a very special friend...and i believe if Marshal sees this poem, he/she'll be happy as ever..i enjoyed reading it and good luck with others...
