Friendship comes, and friendship goes,
nothing is won, or so i'm told.

But i've won something that will never grow old,
it's something that will stay ever bold.

I met my friend when I was young,
and knew I'd never lose this one.

I call this friend, above none else,
my brother, he is always there to help.

He is there in times when friends were needed,
and he was there, when i pleaded.

My friend I found,
will now slipp to the ground.

He is leaving now, for a different town,
although I don't know how.

I wish he'd stay for a few minutes longer,
my feelings for him, keep growing stronger.

He is leaving for college now,
I wish he'd never leave this town.

He is my friend, like I said,
he's there for me, when i'm sick in bed.

He picked me up from the ground,
when I fell on the play ground.

He let me tag along all day,
when I knew, he didn't want me to play.

He said I love you sister, and I'm sorry,
when he pushed me away in his haste and worry.

All my life I adored my friend,
and now he's just finding out, in the end.

Through all the years, i've been so mean,
he's always there to give me a shoulder to lean.

For you my friend, when you've explained,
the hardships of life, you never complained.

You always showed compassion to me,
and told me to follow my dreams.

You always looked out for me,
and that to me is a gift from above.

You loved me harder everyday,
my brother, you are really OK!

Now i'm losing the best friend i'll ever have,
and he's leaving behind, a wonderful past.

Through vague memories, that we've shared,
you my brother are the best i've had.

I love you my friend,
and i'll love you till the end.

This is excellent work.  You have a good style and the content is wonderfully written. So lucky you were to have a brother that was also a friend.
Enjoy your writing.

I thought this is a really well written poem.I can relate in a certain sense but not completely. I am sixteen so none of my best friends are leaving for college. But I am a sophmore in high school and my best friend Joe and I have know eachother since the fifth grade. I used to have the biggest crush on him but we never really acted on it. He isn't leaving towns but he did leave my heart. Like i said we've been friends for more than five almost six years now. And ever since he met his girlfriend Brandi, he puts me on hold and won't do anything to save our friendship. Thank you so much for writing this. You didn't write it for me I know, but it is really a help to organize how I really feel and make me realize that I need to tell him that I want him as my brother again. Thank you so much you are an excellent writer.
