The screech of tires The breaking glass Youth, danger, life It’s over so fast Too many times I’ve done the same thing A moonlight ride A teenage game And then, tonight I saw the crash Youth, danger, life It’s over so fast I didn’t know these kids Belfry High, they said But it doesn’t matter Three kids, all dead Everyone’s done it Racing too fast Youth, danger, life It can never last It’ll never happen to us, we say But we never know Every time we speed, there’s the risk That someone might go Invincibility It can never last Youth, danger, life It’s over so fast "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world" |

How very true this is. I lost my best friend last month to a speeding teen driver who got their DL that week. My friend would not be dead if new drivers did not drive so recklessly. The young driver is still alive today. I hope he feels the pain as sets in and I hope this would serve as an example to all new drivers to come. Driving a vehicle is fun however; it can also turn deadly with poor judgement. Be wise. Drive safely! "WRITING IS EASY. Very powerful and so true. If only more teens would heed this message. Exellent work, Lovebug. I enjoyed this. ![]() *Krista Knutson* "Every moment marked with apparitions of your soul...." ~*Sarah McLachlan- Do What You Have To Do*~ |

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, I hope that more teens, especilly around here, will take the time to slow down after this terrible accident. It was a real wake-up call for me. Heck, my friends and I were playing freeze-out before we saw the wreck. I'm getting my licence next Thursday, and it really made me think. This is such a great post. I really liked the topic and the way you presented it. A close friend of mine lost her grandpa to a reckless teenage driver. She was devestated for a long time and I can now see what a horrible affect this has on people. Great poem Luvbug. Keep up the great work! Great poem Lovebug. I am lucky enough to have not lost anyone I know due to bad driving. I have been told by many that my driving is far better than most my age. I keep the proper speed, signal before changing lanes, etc. It would be nice if everyone followed the rules. |

That's a really good poem. It's so true too. People take for granted so many things, like their life and yet it's one of the things they should treasure the most. |

This is excellent, lovebug, and the last verse punctuates the fact of how fast these things happen. An important poem for all of us to read Liz |
