Books... They raised me They taught me all I wanted to know They taught me about the world About science, the birds and the bees And they told me stories That gave me an imagination That helps me write now Books... My escape When I’m lonely And my mind is too jumbled to write I pick up a book And I’m not Erica anymore I’m whoever I want to be And wherever I want to be Books... My best friends When family and friends betray My books are there And they will always be there When I’m sad, they comfort me When I’m lonely, they’re always there Books... my life "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world" |
