A broken form lies still upon the ground.
Once regal wings lay in twisted tatters.
Mellifluous sobbing it's only sound.
The near-silence, it's keening scream shatters.

Grief has claimed him since before creation.
Lucifer and man ignored his warning.
Both became hell-bent to reach damnation.
Sorrow titles him, Angel of Mourning.

Perfume scented blood streams from tear-filled eyes.
Others surround him with pristine glory.
Against God's will he does not turn his cries.
Repentance is the sum of his story.

Loving God prevents any broken faith.
Between love and misery he is torn.
Anger and fear make him a ghostly wraith.
He can't interfere for oaths he has sworn.

A single mortal heart cuts through his pain.
Heaven is rocked by his sudden silence.
The heart's echoes make him lucid and sane.
The faith beating within it is intense.

This woman's heart lays in one full of life.
Mourning's eyes view the past she has survived.
This mortal woman has endured much strife.
In spite of her suffering she has thrived.

Awed angels watch him stagger to his feet.
Mourning's ears strain to hear her every word.
He struggles against his own self-deceit.
His own pain has left other's pain unheard.

Broken wings straighten and become full-fledged.
His back unbends as the weight of sorrow lifts.
For such wisdom to her side he is pledged.
Opened eyes are the most precious of gifts.

His purpose reaffirmed, Mourning takes flight.
Her guardian angel he has become.
This mortal angel is Mourning's delight.
Eternal despair she has brought him from.

This was truly beautiful Dream. I loved the imagery of this, I could almost hear the cries. And as the sorrow lifted I could feel the warmth upon my face. Simply lovely. Great job as always.

Ok Scott..*wiping away tears*..this is beautiful. Ugh..that word sounds so trite. I can't tell you how much it means to have a friend such as you.

Anything for you Satiate, 'tis not a line either. You are my best friend and that covers so many things that the server would fry were I to try and post it all here. Suffice it to say that we both know the why's and reasons for our friendship. I love you my friend, always.

This is the one, Dream. It is perfection, and too beautiful for any compliment I can give to do it justice.

Awesome.

Wonderful expression of a very complex emotion. I felt myself caught up in the imagery that the words created.

Very thought provoking piece. Thank you for sharing!
