Not Meant To Be

I found a note in a box today,
that I wrote you long ago.
It included all the words I'd say,
to try to let you go.

Beside the note I wrote you, I found,
a note you wrote to me.
The first time I read it my heart hit the ground,
because I thought it couldn't be.

You wrote to me, words to make me stay,
and they made me for a while.
Until it came to the month of May,
when I could no longer smile.

I couldn't go on with something untrue,
although you did love me.
I thought, that maybe, I gave you a clue,
that we weren't meant to be.

So I spoke the words I wrote to you,
and I even cried.
I didn't know what else to do,
but please don't say I never tried.

I likeed the poem, but I am unclear about one thing....what happened in May that told you you weren't meant to be together?

Thanks for the comment....Well, I was in a relationship with a guy, and I did him wrong. In May, I finally told him about everything, and we broke up.

Thanks for the comment....Well, I was in a relationship with a guy, and I did him wrong. In May, I finally told him about everything, and we broke up.

nice poem...i just wish my boyfriend would've done the same for me. Why break a heart when you can prevent it?
