Love is a lie for there is no such thing.
Love is a fantasy born of your lust.
Love plays you like a puppet on a string.
Love is the deception of heartfelt trust.

Spurned love becomes the same amount of hate.
This scarred heart will never know love again.
The myth of true love you choose to create.
Never again will I accept that chain.

My heart is truly woman's broken toy.
Those that deny it do so out of spite.
The love my heart once held was just false joy.
My tormented heart is woman's delight.

I'm sick of giving voice to compassion.
Emotion became the source of my pain..
How quickly I regain cold dispassion.
No woman is worth more than harsh disdain.

Stupidity placed me in love's fire.
Hungry for love, I forgot that it burns.
Never again will I feel such desire.
For the feeling of love my heart still yearns.

I'm sorry for your pain. You have expressed it so well, I could feel it. Hang in and hang on.

Love is a child at her mother's side
Love is a smile without a reason why
Love is a tear you would not hide
Love is a touch that draws a sigh

True...
It can
burn you
hurt you
kill you
All this too is true

But without a heart
you're just as dead
So why not feel its fire
in hopes in will inspire
A life that isn't voided

Very Dark, Dream,
I can feel your emotion in this one.

Dream, I am so sorry for the pain you feel. I wish I knew a way to take it all away, but I know not how or what words to say. I do however understand where you are coming from with this piece. Hot burns the flame of love's fire, even hotter the flame of desire. The wounds they both leave take so long to heal. And some never fully do. Yet know the pain that it brings we still yearn for it. Oh I do hope your tourment ends soon. Just know that in me you have a frined and a shoulder...I've been there and done that...Lord knows I can completely understand. I hopes this helps just a little!

I knew brother, that the title was an oxymoron before I even read the poem.
Splendid pain, exquisitely rendered.

The knife cuts both ways Dream. I feel the same towards men. Hope I will always have but a scared little child I am when the chance draws to close. I have to tell you it has not come close enough to burn me, just make me yearn.

Hmmn, quite the difference of the love poetry you writing. Sorry to hear you're feeling this way again! Your writing is great as always, this was really sad. The pain rolled right off your words. Felt them well!!!

Excellent poem about how it feels to be in love and then be hurt. You can express these feelings so well, even when you aren't feeling them!

Perhaps there is more than one truth of love - it is so indefinable dear Dream. How can we pin such a fragile thing down to a mere definition? Loved your work, as per usual.

Felt your bitterness on this one.And embrace it whole heartedly. Your right love is a lie.I think I'll revel in the hate. Thank-You brother of my heart for writing what I have yet been able to do.

There are many truths in life, and few of them are clear. Keep searching, for sometimes what we believe to be truth is not at all, and lies are not always told by liars.

A truth may be a lie on another level and vice versa. Dichotomy, yes?
