Chasing Shadows
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

In the shadows of the room
I see the demons that hurt me.
Lurking. Waiting to pounce upon
the only sanity I have left.

Never one to avoid confrontation,
I yell at them to come into the light.
Let me see your ugly faces!
I know this well, I've been here before.

They will not show themselves,
for they now wear the fear
I've worn for too many days.

They are demons who hide,
not wanting me to be rid of them.
If I see them ... I can tell them to go.
And in their going, they lose their identity.
Faceless they will become.

No longer able to stand the wait ...
I move into the shadows after them.
I know this well, I've been here before.
They turn.
They run.
I'm left with only the shadows
to remind me
I've been here before
and here I am again.
Chasing shadows.

This was very deep, I liked it much. It reminded me of a short story I once read, called the yellow wall paper. Bravo!

Saxoness: Who wrote the Yellow Wall Paper and can I find it easily?
XAngel: Thanks.
*I only took a challenge and was inspired.
Can't say I know where the thoughts came from. Perhaps that deep cavern where the shadows wait?

The challenge was a good exercise for me. Life challenges us all each day to make some changes in our lives and to confront the demons that hide in the corners of our minds.
Thanks Echo !
