I sit beneath green canopy ...In shade of towering oak, Reflecting on the paths not took, ...Of words I've never spoke. I gaze above at shimmering leaves, ...As sun's light filters through, Oasis in the summer heat, ...Beneath the sky so blue. I hear sweet songs of nightingale, ...Upon the summer breeze, And see the dance of Terpsichore, ...Amongst the oaken leaves. Within the limbs a universe, ...Protected by oak's boughs, And on this beauteous summer day, ...Majestic oak allows... A simple man to touch the gods, ...In boughs of nature's grace, Allowed in slendor to repose, ...In this, God's special place. In summer of my eighteenth year, ...I took you as my wife, For eight and twenty years you've been, ...The tree that shades my life. To alleviate any concerns you might have Robert. (smile) Although Denise's poetry is indeed beautiful. |
