I'm fading
fading away
drowned by the echos of younger screams
embattled by the activity that runs in circles
enraged by the prospect of too much youth
and embaressed by the subtleties of age
I wish I was a ray of light
forever young and energetic
always moving through time and space
yet never wasting away
omnipresent in the ways no one can tell
repetetive in the moment and after as well
uneffected by things done or said
ruined by nothing and treasured by all
I could see the sun rise in the east
and fall in the west as the stars emerge
I could dance among the moonlight
and hide among the stars at play
yet though I wish, I shall never want
as I grow old I want to know the things I've done
I want to feel time course through me like water in a creek
remember the touches I've had and lost
wish away the tears the fall when no one is near
and cry
for the things that never were.

Desperado, your unique imagery and insight sets you apart. I do hope you will still be able to visit after you departure, if not, you will be missed.

Succeeds the glory of the bowl -
An idle longing night and day
To dream my very life away

thanks you guys. oh and micheal, I was talking to nan about having the poet thing in korea next year... would be nice to get away from america and get a stamp on the good ole passport, would it not? *grin* ahh that would certainly be a unique experience. but I don't think it'll happen. but I will keep in touch, that much I can promise. I'm planning on visiting my friends in colorado after I get done with korea and hanging out with them for a few weeks, perhaps when I know when and where I'll be, I can give you a line and you can come on up and hang out with me and a few younguns (we won't be that young at that time though *grin*). if not, I'll see about comming in for the next get together that I can make.
