The cave is dark and dangerous, Little light to see Like turning a key to an unknown door, I place the explosives carefully. I know that I could die from this, But a family I must feed, Back in China waiting, Silently waiting for me. The railway is half way done, Too many killed and gone, I pray each night for my safety, And each morning before the day has begun. Helpless workers dying, Too many for my eyes, I wake up every morning, Letting out an angry sigh. Nearly 4000 miles of Track From Montreal to The Rockey Mountains Hours of hard labour, Whipped and beat, and gunned. I'm writing this now, As my last day, Before we reach the last spike, And before the sun sets for today. I'm going back to my family, Which is right where I belong, I'm leaving all my sorrows, I'm going back to my home of Hong Kong. ------------------ ~*JuLiEt*~ |
