Please Don't Go

They looked at eachother
Through pain stricken eyes,
Tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Please don't go", the little girl cried,
As her daddy rocked her to sleep.
"Don't you cry", the daddy said,
"For I'll come home very soon,
Just go to sleep, smile for me,
I'll be right here waiting for you".
So the daddy waited, and the girl slept fast,
The daddy had rocked her asleep at last.
He looked at her with mournful eyes,
stood up and finished to pack.
He grabbed his things, and kissed his wife,
"Goodbye", he said, and then was off.
"Please don't go", his wife had said,
"I must".
The next few weeks went by quite slow,
A letter from the little girls daddy,
had yet to show.
Nervousness crept up quite fast,
But the next day a man arrived at last
But the look in mommy's eyes told all,
Her heart stood still, time went to a crawl.
A single tear rolled down her face,
A hand had covered her mouth.
The man left quickly,much too fast,
for this to be good news at last.
"Hunny", she said,
"Your daddy's gone", then knelt and kissed my cheek.
"He's gone? But where?"
"To a betta place"
Speechless she was, to young and weak.
To understand such horrid things.
The funeral was held next day,
All was there, teary eyed, and quiet.
She dried her eyes,
And tried to hide it.
She looked inside the coffin new,
Her daddy's face was cold and blue.
"Hello daddy", the little girl said.
"How come you are back so soon?"
But with only a slight breeze for a reply,
Her mommy closed the case,
"Please don't go daddy dear"
Her mommy took her hand.
"You daddy won't be back I fear",
And all was left at that.
Back at home, the mommy tried
To rock her daughter to sleep,
She prayed to good lord above
Her daughter safe and her soul to keep.
"Mommy?"
"Yes?" the mommy said.
"Please don't go".
And with that the mommy smiled.
"I'm right here, and forever will be"
The little girl smiled, and fell asleep.

Very sad...brought tears to my eyes. If this was a personal experience I am sorry for your loss.
