Trying to stray from the darkness, Trying to locate the light-- I think of the freeway I'll head out on tomorrow, After another lonely night. I've had about all I can take, And the road leads to nowhere; The darkness shows the neon brights, But it's your name spelled there. What if I were to close my eyes, Stop and let someone else drive? Well, it's just a thought, And tomorrow I'll find I-5. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I always hope you'll come back to me; But that's just a thought, too, One that has no basis in reality. Tomorrow the freeway Will take me to some unfamiliar place; But nothing will change, The scenery just reflects your face. It's the road to nowhere, It's worn and threadbare; it's the freeway without you... I've broken down And set the flares; You just keep driving... But what do I care? ------------------ Shannon D.
