It feels like you are coming back to me, So I leave it all there. Suddenly I know how it feels To lose someone so close to your heart... When you don't want to move anything For the fear that they won't come back If you make yourself realize they are gone. That is how I feel... But even if I don't change my sheets for a year, It won't bring you back. Even if I throw away the half-empty cigarette packs You won't be back for them soon. If I don't wash your pillowcase forever It won't make you any closer to me. Time stands still when you aren't with me I can't find the right rhythm... But, let me pause my world a little longer Because it hurts too deep right now. I don't want to get back to where I was before Because I never knew your touch then. I never knew how good it felt in your arms Or how sweet and tender a kiss could be... Just let me hold to your memories Until we can be that close again. (written months ago-a selection from my website....just reminiscing again...~m~) ------------------ www.auburn.edu/~fergum1 ~*Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars*~ |

Moonlight, I really like this poem... especially the part where you say "not washing your pillow case won't bring you closer to me..." I really like that. Thank you for sharing. ------------------ ~one voice~ ***For myself I Live, Live intensely and am fed by life, and my value, whatever it be, is in my own kind of expression of that. -Henry James |

Wonderful writing...I loved it. It's the old cliche of "wearing his sweater just to smell him" expanded upon in prose for all to share. |

I'm grateful for your verses, I like this piece. I would wish only this, that your strife is over soon. ------------------ Patience is a virtue, but virtue has never been one of my redeeming qualities. |

I can relate, and wore that "sweater"... held on to those sheets. You captured the feeling very eloquently. ------------------ Shannon D. Montgomery ("Krystal") |
