Dear Poetry members: An attorney I work with asked for something to read as an introduction to a meeting at her Arts & Humanities Organization. Feel free to use it for your group(s)if you so desire. AND, don't hesitate to comment, as I need the criticism to improve. Thanks. {~,^} wink! Each one of us grows in our lives day by day we can or may mature in one of two ways. We either grow without wisdom, oblivious to others, or we develop with the knowledge we can help one another. We must know we are of one kind, be it yellow, black or white; if we’re sharp we learn to think with a wee bit of insight. We learn to put others before our own petty, selfish thoughts because in our hearts we know kindness can’t be bought. To cheer on others, to give a kind smile makes each step lighter and soon we’ve gone miles. It takes little effort to pass on our best to treat others kindly, do they deserve less? We have gathered together tonight, an effort we are to give hope, life and meaning to those near and far. Our efforts by day do not seem like too much but by year’s end we may see the lives that we’ve touched. If that child, this person, that elderly gentle man sees a gift, a reason, a desire so grand; to know a feeling of well being, a life in the sun, we’ll have our reason to continue that which will not be undone. © Sunshine, 1992 [This message has been edited by Sunshine (edited 08-24-99).] |

Sunshine, You have some wonderful lines in the poem. It is well done but up to them to take the advice. |

Thanks Seymour and Whtdove, for your kind comments. You're correct, Sy, it's up to all of us to take up the challenge. ------------------ Sunshine Words will always express our feelings true. ~~~ KRJ Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
