Another day dawns, The show must go on-- Even without you. I glare at the clouds, Thinking that if they'd leave, so much like you, I might just be able to forget you too. Caffeine and a couple of pills To unwrap my day; I feel sometimes like eating, But things just aren't the way they should be Since you went away. And all my friends have tired of hearing, And everyone I know just turns to ice; I wonder if it's always been this way, As I stare at the telephone dial-- Wonder if my feeble hope will suffice For even just a little while. Once you said we'd still be friends, And what I wouldn't give To simply see your face again; But if I'm honest with myself And dig the truth from beneath my skin, I don't think I can ever be your friend. ------------------ Shannon D.
