Looking for the Sun

You are gold and brown
red and orange
all warmth and light
I am the blue and the green
the shades of purple
all stormy and dark
and looking for the sun

I turn to you and
find what I seek
wrapped inside a
circle of eternity
that does not
belong to me

I stand on the edge
of my thunder
and weep the rain

I am the
gold and brown,
red and orange
all warmth and light,
colors delight
You are the blue, the green
the shades of purple
running just like maple syruple

and together we make a sweet rainbow

An interesting picture to behold. Thanks for sharing the image. Know that even in the stormiest places the sun burns through on occasion.

Hey, Sunshine! Where can I get some of that maple syruple for my pancakes?

Caroline...that last stanza is brilliant.

Thanks Andrew and Balladeer
I wrote this in the middle of the night a few months back...woke up thirsty and while I got some water the poem just kind of formed in my head. I wrote it down and went back to sleep! *LOL*

I'd say that was worth waking up for. Some of my better ideas form in the shower. Maybe its a water thing. Go figure.

Hey ... where's the emoticon for the "green with envy" face..?

Good free verse is SO HARD TO WRITE (at least for me) and I love it ... caroline, this was exquisite ... what creative images ... the last stanza was nothing short of a stroke of pure poetic genius.
