My poems may not be classics;
They may never make the grade
That separates the amateurs
From masters of their trade.

They may never reach anthologies
Or even magazines,
Or ever be considered masterful,
By any means.

They may go through Time unnoticed
But, one thing I promise you,
Is, whatever I may offer
Is the best that I can do.

There's a chance I'm not as gifted
Or, as my ex-wife believed,
That my father's sperm count faltered
On the day I was conceived.

Perhaps my grey cell count is lower
Than another man's
But, whenever I present myself,
I do the best I can.

A poem has integrity.
It puts us on display.
A testament of our beliefs
Is there in what we say.

Sincerity cannot be faked;
Pride has no substitute.
If we don't give it our best shot,
Why take the time to shoot?

Let's help enrich each other
And this world in which we live.
In poetry, and friendship, give
The best that you can give.

I think your poetry is classic and your best is far better than a lot of us (I include myself)..in fact your worst (which I have yet to see - don't think it exists) is better than most of us...as for your ex-wife, don't you know that once they're an x they are erased along with any thing bad they've said about you?

This poem is one of your best, thoughtful and intelligent; worthy of any anthology, magazine or Nobel Prize (ok, so I'm sucking up a bit here!). I truly liked it!

So, I bring it forth for more to see - back to the top with thee!

not by a long shot balladeer, will time by pass by on your poems here...though it's not quite the same as the printed page, your work has earned it's right in a much more special place...inmortality in undefined space...

I really like this one...

Most treasures can be found at the bottom of a heap, for what priceless jem has not been dug from the earth. This one is no exception.
Sir Balladeer: you are in deed a master poet. As always, my hat is off and I bow to you and yours.

This is excellent, and needs another lift to the top, for all the new poets to get a glimse of your creative ability.

Balladeer......again, very nice form flowing like a river so smooth. You have no idea what talent you have. I can not tell you often enough that you need to market these talents. If you need some advice or suggestions, e-mail me and I will be most grateful to help. I have 20 poems published and 3 short stories. I am not bragging, merely telling you that your talent which far surpasses mine can get you published if you so choose.

This one hasn't been around for awhile but the theme of it is very clearly on my mind, as I wonder sometimes what the true meaning of poetry really is.  You said it gloriously so I thought others would want to read it again as well.

In my quiet time, I read poetry.  I believe also that sincerity cannot be faked.  It is the words that are sincere like this poem said, one of my favorites by you.
