When I go to visit Mother, as she's sitting in her chair
I catch her eyes drifting, to the picture sitting there
She's lost as time passes, looking into youth
Looking at her self, turning off the truth
Staring at her self, no more then twenty-one
Holding on to Daddy, smiling, having fun
Looking back in time is where she seems to run
Back to a prefect shape, a young girl having fun
I look into her face and see the wrinkles there
As thick strands of silver frames her face, and edges her dark hair
Her skin always so flawless, has spots of age that show
It's thin now, and so fragile, how she bruises so
I sometimes see her blue green eyes filling with tears
I know because they sparkle and they haven't in many years
She say's it just the weather and gently wipes them dry
Until a moment passes, and the pictures in her eye
Of time gone by she'll tell you, just like yesterday
But today she can't remember the last thing that you say
All her friends gone now, just her children she has near
I wonder if she really knows how much we all do care

Well done. I like this. Nicely developed and well thoughtout. A few word problems which I took to be typos. Thank you for posting....

Yes, she knows...all mothers do.

I'm sure she does Tori.

Wonderful tribute to an under appreciated occupation.

tori: Well done!!! I have an aunt who has lucid moments... but most of the time she's just as likely to think I am my mother and look up expecting to see people who died before I was born. Still, I've no doubt she feels the love... even if the identities of the sources are a bit shaky. *S*

Tori

This was very touching. And scary. Will those days take us, too? You've written it well.

Thanks suthern..

Moms mental state is really pretty good she's 73 and forgetful but still lucid
On the other hand I've an uncle who's 86, I'm very close to that has Alzheimer and sometimes it can be rough
He lives with his son and my father.. My Father who has been dead for 15 years.

Thanks LngJhnAg
We never know... I've found it important more so then genealogy to write the story's that have been passed down from the older members of my family.. As well as my own life stories so my children and their children can keep them as hopefully as close to heart as I .
