The Bubble Bath

I drew a long hot bath
with lots of bubbles in it,
a pillow behind my head,
I could be asleep in a few minutes
I'll forget the worries of the day
and sip on a cold glass of wine
I'll chase away the demons
that love to invade my mind
I'll ignore the thoughts of work
at a job I really hate-
and maybe in the morning
I'll just decide to sleep late!
Or maybe I'll call the boss
and say I'm not coming in,
'cause when the wine ran out
I switched over to the gin.
Then I got my toe stuck in the drain
the firemen are on their way
Wouldn't you know its just my luck
Now there will be hell to pay!
I'll never live this down
Oh isn't this just a peach--
my towel is on the doorknob
four feet beyond my reach....

and no it is NOT a true story!

love it! I too love a bubble bath and a glass of wine when I need to unwind! (or even when I don't) The only thing that makes it better is LJA joining me in the tub!

caroline - there is a lesson here...umm...hate your job..need to unwind.. firemen at the door.......well! Can't find it! Cute poem! (by the way, they stationed all the UGLY firemen at the fire station near my house! I have to go across town to watch fires over there just to catch a glimpse of a good looking fireman!)

This one stems from a really bad experience!! I had an auto accident back in June, and my back is now an agonizing mass of pain. Part of my physical therapy is warm soaks in the bath. (I have to spice it up with a bit of wine and some scented candles!) I had this really horrid job at the time, and I just couldn't cry anymore...so out came the laughs. I actually wrote this while I was in the bathtub! I haven't seen a cute fireman in years...maybe I SHOULD get my toe stuck in the drain! Nahhhh...too scary for the firemen. Thanks all!

caroline: Your poem has caused me much grief. (sniff) With Toe eagerly volunteering to "assist" you, I decided my depressed self needed a bubble bath. So I left the water running, poured my wine, shed my clothes, stepped in... and nearly boiled my foot! LOL. The hot was on full blast and our cold water is barely tepid these days... I'm beginning to think self-indulgence is hazardous to my health! *G* Great read!

awwww Suthern...no need to be depressed! Just put a little "toerag" on those burns, drink more wine, and next time throw some ice cubes in while you run the tap! *G*
