Drops of blood fall from the shadow that is my sky The tounges of flames leap out to burn flesh that no longer has feeling Each breath hurts My mind is rock, my heart is stone Where there once was my soul there is a black empty void, dark and deep Eaten out by worms, hungry for corrupt humanity They ate their fill Poison are the tears I cry, from eyes that see the cage in which I exist And acid is the pain that tears away at what is left of me, what knows there is no escape Tormented by fear and regret, my ball and chain that I cannot shake Pain has become my shadow I move and yet I go nowhere There is nothing else The only world I know is the world I am in Voices in my head dance to a song of anger and hate, torturing me with memories of what could have been Bathing in the salty sweat of my own doing, tasting the cruelty and unfairness of it all on my tounge Dangling in front of me is a glimmer of hope, a light in the eternal darkness I reach with hands that will never make it Sinking to my knees on the broken glass which is the ground I walk upon, I scream a scream that will be heard by no one only left to resound among other cries and pleas for mercy, a mercy that is as distant as the consuming flames are near I know now that this hell, this hell that is all mine, is the only fate worse than death |
