You're the epitome of sadness,
A martyr for suffering.
You died for your cause long ago.
Yet you stand before me, living,
A smile upon your face even as you cry.
How can you be happy?
You were born a mistake
And lived a lie,
And paid the price in tears and blood.
Is reality just another facet of your dreams?
Do you see us all as pawns with which to play?
You beg forgiveness on your knees
But you know not whom to ask,
Crying silent tears
And screaming silent words.
You never let us see what you went through.
How can you be happy?
A river, an ocean, a sea of years set us apart.
We were here and you were there,
Our lives appeared both the same and different.
You rose from the ashes of your past
To discover chains binding you to it forever.
Did we ever love you the way you needed to be loved?
Did we ever really make you smile?
You're the epitome of sadness.
How can you be happy?

No, I didn't write this about Andy. (Bet that's a weight off his shoulders.) Who is it about? Who do you think? I hope I don't come off as sounding too sassy, but I'd like to know anything you can tell me about my poem. I'm interested.

i couldnt help but think it was Jesus because of died for your cause long ago and o just about everything you said in the poem cept the contradictions he wasnt a mistake and didnt live a lie unless you are an unbeliever and you mite think he did..if this is about Jesus then i love the lines A river, an ocean, a sea of years set us apart.
We were here and you were there, oo it good yuh either way

I think it's about man. But whoever it's about, I think it's a powerful poem, and I like it.

Skysight,
A deep and well written poem, besides some well written lines there is a lot of meaning
there.

I'm back, and I can honestly say I didn't write this with any form of religion in mind, believer or non. But thanks for the comments. ...and it's still not about Andy.

Allow me to try. Perhaps this is yourself. You think this is how Andy would see you.
