Dance of the American Dream Striving, Driving, Pushing, Shoving Working towards the top. Gasping, Grabbing, Fighting, Yelling Falling upon a desk in a slump. My God he's so young Are you sure it's the heart? Only worked 16 hour days I swear that's all Doc! Wanting, Giving, Searching, Lacking Fulfillment of the dream Denying, lying, buying, crying Mountains of debt possessed Blackness, Loneliness, Hopelessness, Despair over the loss of love Yanking, pulling, stabbing pain Love trickles out like blood. Surviving, Driving, Pushing, Shoving Working 16 hours days Graying, slowing, tiring going Driven to an early grave. My God he's so young Are you sure it's the heart? Only worked 16 hour days I swear that's all Doc! Legacy, Mark, tribute of self What will be left behind? Rumpled clothes, and unfulfilled dreams. Working striving pushing shoving. |

well done my poetic friend...i used to be caught up in that race...now i consider myself a minimalist, i doubt that european "trend" will ever get imported to the US though...we live and learn, and, sadly, some never do ![]() [This message has been edited by elvira (edited 08-17-99).] |

Excellent! I can certainly relate to this one except we are not allowed to put in 16 hour days - we have to cram 16 hours of work into 8 and feel stressed if we fail! My dream - travel around the country, meeting people and writing - sort of a poetic Charles Karault......... ![]() |
