It stretched across the land,
as far as the eye could see.
I knew almost quite instantly,
this wonder was for me.

I sat and watched this wonder,
in a silent reverie.
It's crossed my path many times before,
but I've never REALLY seen.

I sat and watched it as the sun went down,
till I could see no more.
Then with silent regrets,
I headed towards the door.

I crawled into bed,
wrapped within a strange daze.
And as I slipped into unconciousness,
my soul began to raise.

The fog crept across the threshold,
and silently under my door.
It danced with my soul in the moonlight,
like something from days of lore.

They danced all night long,
illuminated by the moon.
They held each other tight,
not wanting to let go so soon.

But it's mission had been accomplished,
it's job had been done.
And so it crept across the threshold
once more,
and under the rising sun.

My soul lingered a moment more,
before it crept back to me.
Where it bathed in a comforting silence,
in joy it's never seen.

The next morning I awoke,
my mind as bright as dawn.
I stepped out to bask in my wonder.
Only to find that it was gone.

It left me in the night,
without a whisper or goodbye.
Gone to some other sad soul,
to heal it, as it did mine.

Thank you both of you. It feels good that I have accomplished what I set out to do in this piece.

This made me feel as I did when I watched "Meet Joe Black". That movie stayed with me for several days, and when I consciously think of it, I'm taken back to that feeling.

Now, your poem has gone and done the same thing.

Well done, Ominous.

I enjoyed this piece a lot, Ominous! I could see the soul and the mist dancing.

This piece well lives up to your name, Ominous.

Very good. I like the idea of your soul dancing around the room at night. Did you ever see John Carpenter's 'The Fog'? This reminds me of that movie.
