-When I was four, I went to school, They called it kindergarten, Upon my rug, I'd take a nap, I'd drink milk from a carton. See Dick? See Jane? I see that damn Spot run. Twelve times four is forty-eight, My learning had begun. On classroom door there was a knock, The president has died. No school was held, the children played, Why had the teachers cried? In junior high, I learned to smoke, New math was all the rage. I pondered on what Orwell meant, Upon the printed page. Mathematical equations, trigonometry, Getting drunk and skipping school; Trying to impress the girls, Yet often played the fool. Across the stage, what's left behind? Where's Pomp and Circumstance? I'd return to naptime rug, If only had the chance. [This message has been edited by Tim (edited 08-14-99).] |

Tim, I think we all would love to get the chance every once in a while, seems as we get older hectic life styles get in the way. Somehow though I think having this here place at Passions to sit and read these poems, almost comes close to resting on that rug. Great job with this one, I liked the reminising of school days. |

6th grade...our curriculum here in Kansas is a little stunted... If you read the national news... we have decided to revisit the Scopes Monkey trial. |

I like this one. Wish I could say it reminded me of my school years, but you didn't mention dinosaurs or the excitement of the discovery of the wheel or our prom night "Fantasy in Fur".......*sigh*.... |
