Exodus from paradise ( A villanelle) Curiosity exploits naivete By an innocent stroll and a prying goal, Where the snake of temptation rises in play. Where confusion can turn the mind to souffle And our sense and patience emigre control Curiosity exploits naivete. While temperance and license lie down by the way The light of a goal loses sight of the soul, Where the snake of temptation rises in play. To reach a green bay and to sail Mandaly Our sails must glean and stay a better enroll Curiosity exploits naivete. For death's constant shadow shows full every way And only cajole dances round the maypole, Where the snake of temptation raises in play. The dye to paradise must apply each day In our stroll in our goal in our whole and dole Curiosity exploits naivete, Where the snake of temptation rises in play. |

Me, Sy!! I do! Any attempt at a villanelle deserves appreciation and this one does have good qualities. |
