Out in the country, town of 300, doing those things that kids do. Enjoying all of nature, the end of the 50’s, loving life, and heaven, it’s true. There was a secret place I kept to myself and waited for my parents to leave, once the car’s gone, up into heaven pretending there was an Adam to my Eve. Up into the plum tree I’d climb where the fruit was not yet ripe, but oh, the purpleness of that fruit and I’d yearn for that first bite. Sometimes I’d sit there, patiently waiting for the fruit to ripen on the vine. No one could see me up in the tree in that special hiding place of mine. And that summer, oh it was long till the fruit into fruition came. Still a bit early, but you know the old song “oh Mom, the stomach pain!” 09 Aug 99 ------------------ © KRJ Sunshine Words will always express our feelings true. ~~~ KRJ Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
