The first time I saw her was from behind. She was wearing a strap-less, black, silk dress. Her milky, white skin almost drove me blind. She aroused more than interest, I confess. I quickly scanned my eyes around the room. I couldn't help myself, I had to stare. A quick flash of leg fast lifted my gloom. Bluish-black was the color of her hair. You know I had to have a better view. Quite slowly I worked my way to the bar. I watched others go to hit on her too. Right now I'd rather view her from afar. With skill she denied each one that came by. Each turned to leave with a dejected look. She caught my stare then matched it, eye for eye. She read my thoughts like an open book. Shooters for courage and I made my move. I eased down the bar to stand next to her. I acted like I had nothing to prove. Just her standing so close was sheer torture. Before I could speak, she looked up at me. She drew her tongue across those ruby lips. With laughing eyes, she said, "My name is Dee." Then this jaded heart started doing flips. With a smirk she asked, "Would you like to dance?" Speechless, I stood there, jaw hitting the floor. "You are the one I came here to romance." Her soft, sultry voice left me wanting more. No way was I going to pass this one by. As I held her close, I became quite bold. When she leaned into me, I heard her sigh. The touch of her skin made me feel so cold. The men around us were giving me glares. I bent to kiss her and she said, "Not yet." Her forwardness had caught me unawares. "You'll feel my kiss soon enough, do not fret." As we danced, the room around me grew dim. The fire in her eyes was all I could see. With each caress, my head began to swim. I couldn't believe she had come for me. Quietly she said, "You may kiss me now." When I went to kiss her, I felt out of breath. She said, "Be at peace, let me show you how." Then I felt the embrace of Lady Death. I opened my eyes surrounded by light. I saw myself laying under a sheet. Her soothing voice said, "It will be alright." The kiss of Death had never tasted so sweet. ©1999 DreamEvil ------------------ Shall I indulge in flights of fancy hampered by clipped wings? I really enjoyed reading this, Dream! Excellent job, I think! I could see it all happening in my head! ![]() ------------------ ~onevoice~ "She looked at her life like lines, never-ending, constantly forming, reforming and bending." |

A truly masterful piece. Now we just need to find someone who gives you that much peace without taking your life! ![]() |

Of course this is well done! I liked the end, what a twist. Sounds like a dream that would awake someone in a cold sweat. |

Why did you portray death as a beautiful woman? Do you subconsiously fear beautiful women? |

Not at all, Lady deVine. Women are a comfort, they take away pain and put me at ease. Much like Death takes away the pain of living. I must admit, one particular Lady inspired this piece. |
