Clipped Wings and Rusty Armor Years ago a man clipped her wings And told her not to fly So the little dove spent her days Looking at the sky As years went by, she soon forgot What she’d been dreaming of Her clipped wings and shattered hopes Kept her from seeking love A gentle Knight with feelings deep And armor shinning bright Was hurt by one that he loved so And thus gave up the fight Years went by and to not be hurt He put his feelings on a shelf Armor once bright began to rust And he kept unto himself Then one day the little dove Met the rusty knight He promised to help her learn to fly If she’d help him to fight They shared their dreams, their hopes, their fears Along with many other things Very soon his armor began to shine And the dove she spread her wings One day as they were walking Under the noonday light The dove stretched out her healing wings And took off in gentle flight The knight, he watched from down below A smile across his face As he watched her soar on open wings A picture of perfect grace The dove she turned around in flight And on that very day She touched down upon the knight And his armor fell away The dreams that once belonged to two They now share as one She flies on wings that once were clipped He fights dragons in the sun A fairy tale of sorts is this But one that has come true For I found my happy ending The day that I met you (This doen't quite flow as smoothly as I'd like it to, but you'll get the drift anyway) ------------------ "Nobody has measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold" ~Zelda Fitzgerald [This message has been edited by hoot_owl_rn (edited 08-02-99).] |

such a lovely story ------------------ If I had my mouth I would bite. If I had my liberty I would do my liking. In the mean time, let me be that I am, and seek not to alter me. ~Shakespeare~ |

It's amazing how many ways you can bring out your thoughts in words in different ways the way you did in this one. Another strike down the middle for hoot! (I meant this as a good thing just so you know lol) Keep writing! |

A beautiful story and well told ... the flow issues worked in this poem and I am amazed at your talent. Glad you are still here, sharing. A |
