Why so much darkness
In words that we write?
It's sickness of soul
Will no one fight?

There are better things
And happier times
If out of this pit
We choose to climb.

So much heaviness
And pain I see here
So many been hurt
To me it's quite clear.

The pain will all fade
Darkness will pass
And see a 1/2 full
Not 1/2 empty glass.

And happier writing
One day will come
When darkness goes out
And in comes the "Son".

It just breaks my heart to see so many going through such pain, and I long to see their happiness again.

Historically, the greatest art has been borne of pain and sadness. Why? Because it is a tragically common bond that all people share.

Joy is only fulfilling because it provides us with such a stark contrast to our darker moments. To celebrate pain is to conquer it.

Of course, this is only my opinion and I claim to speak for no one but myself.

Well said Haskins! I like that philosophy-besides we're supposed to write about what we know! WhtDove here obviously knows about "climbing out of the pit", and has written a very good poem about it.

Thank you, and yes I do understand why it is written. And yes, I do know what it's like to be in that pit, and many years of struggle. Though God knows I still slide down it, but yes I have crawled from the pits of sorrow.
