Falling
Long John

The old priest had grown tired and weary,
In confessions nearly every day,
Hearing of shameless philandering,
As his parish continued to stray.

He forbid the women from saying,
The often used philandering term.
"Fallen" would be the new phrasing,
For the souls that would surely burn.

From that day forward the women,
Using the more pleasing phrase,
Would confess, "I've fallen again."
As a way of saying they'd strayed.

The old priest retired from his calling,
And a young priest took the lead.
But he hadn't been told about "Falling",
So he went to the Mayor to plead.

"Mayor, you must quit this stalling,
Your sidewalks are in terrible shape.
My parishioners confess they are falling,
They need your help as they find their way."

The Mayor laughed at the young priest's gaffe,
Causing the young Father to speak,
"I wouldn't think you would want to laugh.
Your wife's fallen three times this week!"

Thank you, one and all. May I challenge you to take a funny story you've read, and rewrite in poetry, with the puncline as the last line? It will make you work a bit, but you may be surprised at the result. Keep it clean for an extra 50-point bonus! lol
