A family at home we are craving our supper
But the fridge grows two legs, and drop-kicks my brother.

The blender rears up, slicing my mother,
The toaster explodes, my dad starts to smother.

The oven mutates, and soon forms another.
An outdated ad screams, 'Quick! DUCK and COVER.'

We take our last breath, with no hope of another
But-we-are-all-saved-by-TINA YOTHERS!

(Shakes her head..) You're not right....and I love it! You're hilarious. I'd challenge you to write a poem about say....a drinking glass....yet, I know you'd find a way to make it all too funny. So, I won't....but I'll think of something better and challenge you in the future....LOL Thanks for the laughs.

Thank you all for your assault of praise...This one was something of a "golden oldie" that we aired out here. Actually, the Poetic Wheelbarrow have been writing these poems for many years now, we're just glad to have an audience! Thanks again, one and all!

Ha ha ha. Poetwheel, this was so funny, and even though I don't know who "Tina Yothers" is, I cracked up anyway.

Thanks Elizabeth. Tina Yothers is the young child in all of us, yearing to be heard yet fearing to speak.

Kind of reminds me of an old Jack Prelutsky poem about meat loaf. Anyone else ever heard of it?

Ryan-are you talking about the one called "My Mother Made a Meat Loaf", where the family ends up using the meat loaf as a brick? That's the only one I can think of.

Kick ass!

What a funny (and technically sound) poem.
I got a real good belly laugh out of this one.

Poetwheel...
How I missed your morbid poetry... I was forbidden to read you for a while but I sneak away from this hell that I chose while intoxicated with the smell of money to read you once more....
