I have only been here for a few months so this may have been suggested before.... Is it possible to put a chat room in the forums? I believe it would make it easier for a lot of us to communicate with each other. Even though a lot of the people at passion's have ICQ, there are probably twice as many that don't Just an attempt to make Passions a little better, however impossible that may be. (I thinks it's so very close to perfect now ) Jeffrey [This message has been edited by Jeffrey Carter (edited 06-23-2000).] |

We've talked about this before. And tried to find some software that would work with ours...so far nothing..and then it takes Ron some time to modify the software..if you have any ideas, we'd be glad to listen.. It would be great wouldn't it? A lot of us have ICQ an can chat that way, but it's not as easy as a chatroom.. |

Sharon, It would certainly be great, however, I haven't a clue. Ok, Sharon, I have been researching some chat software and so far I have come up with 2 possible answers First is www.peoplelink.com This looks like pretty good software to me (Mtv, VH1, among others use this software for their sites) however, when I tried to get more information, via Email, I haven't received a reply as yet. It does have have a lot of other capabilities other than just chat. Things like an online indicator which tells you who is on-line. Then there's Voice chat, and some other stuff that we already have at passion's. I couldn't locate a price range on this software though Second, there is www.chatblazer.com this one is for chat software only, which is basically what I was looking for in the first place. It has way too many features to list in this thread however so you'll just have to click the link to check it out I did find a price for this one ....$395.00 That comes with a 30 day money back guarantee, a one time free installation of chat software (up[on request), a one time free installation of java files (upon request), one year free customer support There is also a downloadable trial version to test it with the forums (hint, hint) These are all I have found so far, but I'm gonna keep looking < !signature--> All my love, Jeffrey I lie awake in a world filled with dreams, but dreams can be so real when you don't know you're asleep [This message has been edited by Jeffrey Carter (edited 06-23-2000).] |

To all, I think a chat room would be a really great idea, because I know that my computer won't allow me to download ICQ. As for software, I'm not really sure. What about (and this is just a thought) a link within the forums to a web page that allows you to login and chat? I guess I'm not really sure what would interfere with Passions software . . . I think a chat room is a great idea though!!!! Crystal Maybe God has us meet a few wrong people so that when we meet the right one we can truly appreciate the gift. |

One of the problems we ran into before is perfectly exemplified by what you said, Crystal. If your computer won't let you use ICQ, the chances are excellent it won't let you use a chat program either. Virtually all of the chat software needs to be run on both our server and on your local machine. When we tried, we discovered that some people could chat using one software package but not another, while others could only use a different package. It is that incompatibility that caused us to abandon the search. That's not to suggest we're not interested, but I'll admit I was discouraged from our previous attempts. Jeffrey, I appreciate your research. I'm going to download the chatblazer program and kick the tires a bit. We'll see what happens… |

Hiya, just a thought for Ron here... how about a chat program that runs in your web browser such as that used at "the other place" you know, the one we never talk about ? Hi Ron, I was just wondering if I could get an update on the Chatblazer program? I am still searching for software, but haven't found anything that even remotely looked like it would work Thanks again for taking the time to try this All my love, Jeffrey |

Hi, Ron, I found another chat program This one looks pretty good and it is cheaper than the Chatblazer program ($250) It has pretty much the same features too! And it also has a downloadable trial version http://www.command-o.com/products/chatpro/ anyway, just trying to help Thanks again, Jaffrey |

Jeffrey, what kind of features does this program have.. Or better yet, what kind do we need. Maybe we should use this to throw in suggestions. Also what about restrictions, how do we keep offensive people out like Long John and Balladeer. There are the typical trouble makers that just thrive on being chat room problems. How do we keep them out. Can we set it so that only registered regular members be allowed in, or a minimum post limit. Something not to high, but a level that means you've been willing to put some time in passions to become part of the community. Anyway I think chat would be great if you can integrate properly.
