The chains that bind cut deep...tearing at the human skin beneath Leaving sores that lay open...exposed to the outside world And as one cut heals, a sudden movement is made Leaving but a deeper wound to contend with If only the chains were off or if there was a way to loosen them Then the pain would ease Who has the key to these chains Searching...trying to find a key Trying to find a way free from the chains But even when the barriers are removed there will always be scars Scars that are deep...penetrating far below the skin Visible still to the world Hence, will one actually be free Or just be able to move without inflicting pain on ones self Knowing only God and those he loves will not see the scars For they know what it took to remove those chains And they will medicate the wounds with their love In their eyes he is free indeed Free to ride off on his white horse And they will be there to show him the path to follow And reminding him never to look back For behind him lies a world of prejudices But ahead of him are visions of castles As long as he keeps his eyes toward his dreams And not on the nightmares that are left behind |

I've been enjoying your work. Please check out my post "Laced Tightly", last seen on page 4. Nice piece. |
